June 7-10, 2019 Hotter than Hell....Archeologically magnificent!

Agra, India - the Tag Mahal built in 632 by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, to house the tomb of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

3 hour flight, plus, from Dubai to Agra, India. Non stop.

Early morning visit....as the light comes up, the whole nature of the building changes

More than 20,000 workers and 1,000 elephants were used in the construction of the Taj Mahal. Construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1632 and took 20 years to complete.

Incredibly, most of the craftsman (inlaying the precious stones) came from Persia (modern day Iran).

Apparently, this is the second holiest river in India. We are not entirely certain what makes one river more or less holy than another. A survey?

We unable to get an accurate translation of the inscription on the Temple. There are 2 tombs in the Taj: one for the King's beloved wife, who died bearing her 14th child, and one for the King.

There are 2 flanking (identical) Mosques (well, 1 is a Mosque, the other is a "Guest House" to provide exact symmetry).

I think he is mixing his plaids....no invitation to Fashion week for him!

Fantastic Scallops!

Lamb - Delicious!

Things and Stuff...not certain what this was

Goat staying cool, as much as one can, in 119 degrees. Oppressive heat.

Cattle and Water Buffalo rule the streets in Agra.

Mid-morning rest.

The thriving inlaid marble market! Huge table in Marble? Anyone, anyone?

Gods and Goddesses, there are 330 million from which to choose. I like this one.
